When the Japanese won control of some Chinese city or town, their officers often gave their soldiers freedom to plunder and rape at will for several days. The only other army that has been allowed by its generals to do this in modern times was the Soviet's, particularly near the end of World War II as their army drove German troops out of Eastern Europe. For the Japanese soldier rape was often not enough. They had to torture and murder their victims as well, which will be shown in the next photo. Here, is pictured a rape in progress, one of the few photos anywhere of this heinous crime often committed by soldiers, whether approved or not by their officers. For documentation on the total murdered, see China's Bloody Century, Death By Government and Statistics of Democide. Source: "Alliance in Memory of Victims of the Nanjing Massacre". |
