If by this you mean a candidate who had the clearly expressed backing of a majority of the voting public and who was elected in a fair, honest, and open election in which the majority of the eligible electorate participated, then I dare say that we've never had a "freely elected" president in the modern history of this nation.

Perhaps your prediction could be more accurately stated along the following lines: "Obama is the last president of the United States to be put into office through the window dressing of democratic national elections. The Minnesota Free Market Institute hosted an event at Bethel University in St. Paul on Wednesday evening. Keynote speaker Lord Christopher Monckton, former science adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, gave a scathing and lengthy presentation, complete with detailed charts, graphs, facts, and figures which culminated in the utter decimation of both the pop culture concept of global warming and the credible threat of any significant anthropomorphic climate change.

Here were Monckton’s closing remarks:

At [the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in] Copenhagen, this December, weeks away, a treaty will be signed. Your president will sign it. Most of the third world countries will sign it, because they think they’re going to get money out of it. Most of the left-wing regime from the European Union will rubber stamp it. Virtually nobody won’t sign it.

I read that treaty. And what it says is this, that a world government is going to be created. The word “government” actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to third world countries, in satisfication of what is called, coyly, “climate debt” – because we’ve been burning CO2 and they haven’t. We’ve been screwing up the climate and they haven’t. And the third purpose of this new entity, this government, is enforcement.

How many of you think that the word “election” or “democracy” or “vote” or “ballot” occurs anywhere in the 200 pages of that treaty? Quite right, it doesn’t appear once. So, at last, the communists who piled out of the Berlin Wall and into the environmental movement, who took over Greenpeace so that my friends who funded it left within a year, because [the communists] captured it – Now the apotheosis as at hand. They are about to impose a communist world government on the world. You have a president who has very strong sympathies with that point of view. He’s going to sign it. He’ll sign anything. He’s a Nobel Peace Prize [winner]; of course he’ll sign it.

And the trouble is this; if that treaty is signed, if your Constitution says that it takes precedence over your Constitution (sic), and you can’t resign from that treaty unless you get agreement from all the other state parties – And because you’ll be the biggest paying country, they’re not going to let you out of it.

So, thank you, America. You were the beacon of freedom to the world. It is a privilege merely to stand on this soil of freedom while it is still free. But, in the next few weeks, unless you stop it, your president will sign your freedom, your democracy, and your humanity away forever. And neither you nor any subsequent government you may elect will have any power whatsoever to take it back. That is how serious it is. I’ve read the treaty. I’ve seen this stuff about [world] government and climate debt and enforcement. They are going to do this to you whether you like it or not.

But I think it is here, here in your great nation, which I so love and I so admire – it is here that perhaps, at this eleventh hour, at the fifty-ninth minute and fifty-ninth second, you will rise up and you will stop your president from signing that dreadful treaty, that purposeless treaty. For there is no problem with climate and, even if there were, an economic treaty does nothing to [help] it.

Men crave power. Once they obtain it they want more of it, and thus seek to centralize, solidify, and thereafter expand it. This appetite is hardwired into the nature of the human beast.

Throughout history regional and global empires have risen and fallen on account of this hunger in man (the Anglo-American Empire is merely the most recent symptom of this disease). And yet the one-world-o-phobes speak as though the present push toward full economic and political globalization is some new and alien threat up from the bowels of Hades come to drag us all down into the pit. Under what rocks have they been hiding?

The vast majority of the quaint ideals upon which the United States was founded are illusory. No, all men are NOT created equal; no, they are NOT endowed by any god with certain inalienable rights; no, there is NO real government of, by, or for the common rabble. These are simply charming myths that sentimental people harken to in order to avoid the harsh realities that play out within a more dynamic and chaotic universe. In this world your "rights" derive from one of of two sources -- collective, delusional role-playing or superior firepower. Just ask the Japanese-Americans who were interned when the U.S. bounded into WWII, even though they had broken no laws in this land.

So too is the concept of the nation-state an illusion. It can just as easily be swept aside when the sentimental ones acquire the courage to see things as they really are. Washington is now run by people who, when it suits them, play to the sentiments of patriots (especially when it's time to muster troops and provoke a national fighting spirit). But these elite politicians have both eyes open to the realities that lurk behind the illusions of national sovereignty and the nation-state. If you believe either of these two wars the U.S. is now waging is about bettering lives of people at home here, then you are to be pitied above all people. Your rulers know that the goals here are globalist in scope, not American, and it's suprisingly easy for them to get the ruled stupes to run off and die for their lies.

So, all you whiners and bawlers out there who wave your American flags and and seek refuge in your imaginary dieties that bestow imaginary rights, get ready for what's coming. You can wave your copies of the Constitution around all you like; irrelevant history written out in dead platitudes will not sway the people who own and run this world.

Remember what I said about the true sources of "rights". The collective, delusive role-playing option is rapidly going out of style. The only other alternative after that would be the superior firepower of a bigger army. Good luck with that.

One thing I liked about W. Bush was his consistent flipping of the middle finger at the U.N. Advisers probably gave him this idea but it was still refreshing to see a US president exhibit testicular fortitude and tell the united abominations to shove it.
