To argue that both sides were wonderfully represented ignores the Bandys had to fork out $300,000 to defend their son. While it didn't cost Thomas a dime. And now his assistant smears Matt all over again in her attack on the media conspiracy.

Had Andrews done this to most kids they would be in prison because the parents wouldn't have that money. And David pretends this shows the beauty of the legal system. What beauty? That only people with money can defend themselves from overanxious prosecutors who don't care how much taxpayer funds they spend! Really beautiful. Spectacular!

David are you Andrew Thomas or Rachel Alexander? Do you work with them or are you related to either? Why are you blogger without a blog?

Er... That link does not lead to a "news article." It's an opinion piece written by the deputy prosecutor in this case, so it's not exactly a surprise that she disagrees with the defense's perspective. Hardly what I'd call a "news article." But nice try, all the same.
If prosecutors were so sure of their case, why did they refuse to release the hard drive to defense attorneys, per court order? The beauty of our system of justice is that it works if you have enough cash to buy it at sufficient quantity and quality. All others, bend over and grab your ankles ...

Wow. All the conspiracy rhetoric. One of the oldest propaganda tricks out there is to demonize your enemies. Referring to the District Attorney as a "Commissar" and likening him to David Duke do nothing to strengthen your logical argument. Instead, you come across as a petulant child who has not gotten your way. The fact of the matter is that he was doing his job. The beauty of our legal system is that both sides are represented wholeheartedly. Just as the DA was eager to get a conviction, Matthew Bandy had an eager and able defense attorney who did his job ably and well. In AZ many kids are coereced into signing plea deals, Andrew Thomas and his office will do anything to get a conviction NO MATTER WHAT. Then the kids are chased down by the Adult Probation Office and then JOE takes them on to prison. The plea is meant to get the guilty plea, they have every intention of sending all the boys to prison. Parents, DO NOT allow your kids to talk to the police, OR anyone without you there! They have NO problem sending a 12 year old to prison for life! Listen to the stories! There is an attack on our kids and it is the courts, prosecutors office and probation dept. New Prison's are being built that are privately owned that are making millions for the state of AZ and all of the other states. A great web site is www.operationawarness.com

I was forced to confess to the
possession of internet digital pictures of porn in deleted clusters of
my computer hard drive. My browser was hijacked while I was browsing
the web. I was redirected to illegal sites against my will. Some
illegal pictures were found on my hard drive, recovering in
unallocated clusters, without dates of file creation/download.

I do not know how courts can widely press these charges on people to
convict them, while the whole Internet is a mess.

you know what's funny about your article?...the timing. there's this add being shown in france (i saw it at the airport) that's about sex trips to certain places (to have sex with kids). it's a pretty racey add. in the end the off screen guy is about to have sex with some teenage girl cowering against the bedrest and just then! "BAM'! the door slams open and these cops pour in with machine guns. the end? nope. we then get told about the 10 years in prison you will get.

when i reached my friend's place there was a news story on child sex and the internet. the viewer is shown how the police do their job and the things they find. ouch.

my question is this...well my questions are: why the overwhelming use of force? why all of the machine guns? well, rhetorical question. secondly, i hope that the 'state' is smart enough to rotate the folks having to track down the images and movies. there is no way in the world any person can look at the stuff and not be affected in a negative way. what i mean by that is you cannot assume that the folks doing that job are not affected. maybe it's just me i'm talking about here. it's just that i see a long term problem here with folks that get stuck in this job too long. i mean, coming home to your kids after seeing this stuff at work all day? it'd be like those female cops playing a hooker to catch a guy. i mean, you're becoming what you are trying to catch! it's gotta break you down...or even worse...dehumanize you. i don't know.

Ah, there's nothing like the collusion of a police state and an OS maker who enables them. Hopefully it won't sound smug when I mention Open Source is currently immune to such abuses. Rather, I choose FreeBSD in part because I have been accused by the Feds of being a cult leader in need of watching. I gave my son a computer which runs CentOS (Linux).
