I got tonsillitis a lot as a kid. My mom always took me to the doctor, who put a shot of penicillin in my backside. Tonsillitis was gone in 3 days or less. The penicillin never failed. In college, when my mother wasn't around to take me to the doctor, I got tonsillitis and DIDN'T get penicillin. It was gone in three days. Turns out, tonsillitis is a three day illness.

Stomach flus nearly always clear up in a day or two. Helps to not eat, and to drink as much fluid as you can keep down, but they go away by themselves pretty much whatever you do.
