The d.e.a. Must Die

I Wish I Could Speak Like Music

I wish I could speak like music.

I wish I could put the swaying splendor
Of the fields into words

So that you could hold Truth
Against your body
And dance.

I am trying the best I can
With this crude brush, the tongue,

To cover you with light.

I wish I could speak like divine music.

I want to give you the sublime rhythms
Of this earth and the sky's limbs

As they joyously spin and surrender,
Surrender
Against God's luminous breath.

Hafiz wants you to hold me
Against your precious
Body

And dance,
Dance.

From DrugSense Weekly:

If the jury have no right to judge the justice of a law of the government, they plainly can do nothing to protect the people against the oppressions of the government; for there are no oppressions which the government may not authorize by law. -- Lysander Spooner, Trial by Jury

Morphmaster - Bin Laden Interview - Ted Kopel interviews Osama in this Flash video. Hehe. [pournelle]

The Week Online with DRCNet - DEA Bans Consumption of Hemp Foods Effective Immediately - They've done it. The Dung Eating Assholes have declared all human ingested hemp products to be illegal. By proclaiming this to be an interpretation of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), they claim that no public comment period is necessary. I am way too angry to say what I'm thinking. Check back in a couple of days. More on the ban at votehemp.com/action.html. Don't miss the PDF copies of 21 CFR Part 1308: Interpretation and Clarification of Listing of "Tetrahydrocannabinols" in Schedule I (the interpretive rule), 21 CFR Part 1308: [DEA-206]: RIN 1117-AA55: Exemption From Control of Certain Industrial Products and Materials Derived From the Cannabis Plant (the interim rule), and 21 CFR Part 1308: [DEA-205]: RIN 1117-AA55: Clarification of Listing of "Tetrahydrocannabinols" in Schedule I (the proposed rule). They point out well what a prime nazi GW chose in Asshole Hutchinson. The interpretive rule reinterprets the CSA to prohibit all materials containing any amount of THC. The interim rule exempts hemp products that are not used or intended for use for human consumption. It also establishes a 4 month grace period, until February 6, 2002, for people possessing substances newly prohibited by the interpretive rule to dispose of them. The proposed rule clarifies that the CSA applies to both natural and synthetic THC.

According to an alert sent out by David Bronner, president of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps and chair of the Hemp Industries Association (http://www.thehia.org) Food and Oil Committee, representatives of the association are meeting with their lawyers in Washington this week. Bronner wrote that the HIA would seek a temporary restraining order to stop the regulations from taking effect.

Bronner also urged that people engage in civil disobedience by ordering lots of delicious, nutritious hemp goodies from the Test Pledge companies, a roster that now includes 21 businesses, from the Cool Hemp Company ("Christina's Hemp Cookies") to Canadian grower and processor Kenex ("Virgin Emerald Hemp Oil").

Hemptown Rock's Rose Phillips exhibited some of the same defiant attitude. "I will continue to sell until someone walks in my store and makes me stop," she said. "This will make people really angry," she said. "There are a lot of things the government needs to be doing right now, and worrying about whether someone has a hemp seed inside him isn't one of them."

Rick Gee at anti-state.com - Don't Forget the State's Pre-911 Crimes - assaults by the gummint on our liberties are not new, they've just gotten more intense since 9/11. With the sheep running scared they can get away with more. [anti-state]

Clearly, it is important during this time of "crisis" to oppose the welfare-warfare State in any way we can. When the War on Terrorism ends (fat chance), or enough Americans begin to object to their sons and daughters returning to America in body bags (more likely), the additional powers grabbed by the jackboots will mostly remain in effect.

Jason Smith at anti-state.com - A Short Study of Firearms - Mr. Smith recommends obtaining an AR-15 or, if you can't afford the $800-1000 it costs, a MAK 90. Then he tells a little about how to outfit it. [anti-state]

Like the boy held back two grades who took the weaklings lunch money everyday, larger and stronger than anyone else in the room, our government has decided to 'protect' us with yet another government agency, The Office of Homeland Security. What a grand Nazi name for a new department of our fascist government. Perhaps the mask is finally coming off.

Perhaps the humor and the jokes of how inept and incompetent our government is will fade when OHS turns it eyes towards the home grown 'terrorists'. It will happen. The next Oklahoma City bombing will be all the excuse it needs to clamp down on the few rabble-rousers left in this country.

Are you listening fellow columnists?

With our thoughts on such pleasant matters I turn to the subject of selecting a good firearm.

Gun Owners of America - Smith Amendment To Arm Airline Pilots Adopted In The U.S. Senate - The senate has passed, by unanimous consent, Bob Smith's amendment to arm pilots. Now it's on to the House. GOA is asking folks to contact Dennis Hastert, Dick Armey, and Tom DeLay, urging them to allow a similar amendment to the Aviation Security Bill. [sierra]

Will Cate - Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 - Some thoughts and links on the SSSCA. Thanks for the link, Will. [will]

The DMCA was bad legislation. The SSSCA is the death-sentence. It will kill the computer industry (and the home-entertainment industry, and the broadcast automation industry, etc.).

Joe Vialls - "Home Run": Electronically Hijacking the World Trade Center Attack Aircraft - a more credible account (than Operation 911) of the "Home Run" system whereby many modern airplanes can be flown by wire from the ground. [grabbe]

michael at Slashdot - NAI to Sell Off PGP Product Line - Network Associates is getting out of the encryption business due to lack of sales. I think ruebarb hit it on the head. When Phil Zimmerman left, he said that he could no longer vouch for the lack of backdoors in future versions. I have refused to upgrade since then.

Ever since Phil Zimmerman left because of of "differences" with NAI, I was extremely reluctant to upgrade to future versions for fear of "backdoors" that might have been included in the product - things that wouldn't have happened under his watch but are now more likely.

So I stopped upgrading the free version at the last version he personally oversaw...7.0.3

Declan McCullagh at Wired - Terror Bill Limits Gambling, Too - another bill, another land mine. Only Dr. No voted against the "Financial Anti-Terrorism Act". Sigh... [wired]

Declan McCullagh at Wired - Terror Bill Clears Senate - The so-called "USA Act" has passed the senate with only Russ Feingold dissenting. No need to worry about the Muslim terrorists. We've got plenty of our own at the f.b.i., d.e.a., b.a.t.f., etc... Sieg Heil. [wired]

Declan McCullagh at Wired - House Endorses Snoop Bill - and it passed the house by 339 to 79 with some small differences. The house version includes a sunset clause and doesn't say anything about "money laundering". From now on folks, remember to say hello to the boys and girls from the Department of Injustice whenever you answer the phone. [grabbe]
