At 12:37 today my phone rang. It was our trusty FBI Agent , Joe Tamarkin and I swear I am not making this up. He said, "Linda the press has been calling me and that hurts my feelings." Not wanting to add anymore hurt feelings on top of what he had already suffered, I very gently explained to him about freedom of the press and the first amendment. I also tried to point out that his job was to investigate crimes. I did give him a little phrase to use so the press couldn't hurt him anymore. "I cannot comment on an ongoing investigation until we have a conviction." He then very graciously thanked me for listening about his feelings and ended the conversation.
For those of you across this great land who would like to talk to Mr. Tamarkin or one of his superiors I will leave his phone number, but please be gentle. (617) 742-5533. Seriously, if you have been a victim of a crime in Massachussetts, and then been victimized again by the cops or the courts, get ahold of this guy--maybe he will do what we pay 'em to.
