  • 13 1743 - Thomas Jefferson born.
  • 15 Official shakedown deadline in US.
  • 16 1861 - Confederate forces attack federal customs station, Fort Sumter.
  • 19 1775 - American Revolution begins with the victorious battles of Lexington and Concord.
         1933- FDR abandons the gold standard.
         1943 - Warsaw Ghetto uprising begins.
         1993 - Waco standoff ended by federal assault on Branch Davidian church.
         1995 - Oklahoma City bombing.
  • 24 1968 - Tax Freedom Day. Still slipping.
  • 25 1867 - Tokyo opened for foreign trade.
  • 27 1820 - Herbert Spencer, English pro-freedom sociologist, born.
  • 28 1945 - Italian dictator Benito Mussolini executed. A good start.
  • 30 1945 - Adolph Hitler commits suicide. Even better.
         1978- Tax Freedom Day; notice the trend?

  • 2 1988 - Tax Freedom Day. Uh huh.
  • 5 1821 - Napoleon Bonaparte dies in exile. No loss.
       1961 - First American, Alan B. Shepard, makes it to space, though not orbit.
  • 6 1961 - Your handsome and talented editor born. <grin>
  • 8 1899 - Nobel Prize winner Friedrich August von Hayek born.
  • 9 1502 - Christopher Columbus embarks on 4th voyage to new world. Presumably has figured where he's really going by this time.
  • 13 1774 -Boston Committee of Correspondence urges all colonies to participate in a total boycott of British trade.
  • 14 1908 -First airplane passenger flight. Who's still putting up with the Transportation Gestapo to fly now?
  • 15 1776- Continental Congress denounces all allegiance to George III.
